Grand Designs from Grande Moments

AO0P7948 (4)When it comes to styling your special day, you want a wedding expert to make your vision a reality. Annastasia Grande from Grande Moments Events and Weddings will help you to achieve the style you are dreaming of. A talent for floral artistry, combined with the knowledge and experience of event planning means that your wedding ceremony and reception will be expertly catered for.

Annastasia’s love for flowers and weddings started when she was just a little girl, and her skills have now developed into a flourishing business that helps couples create their dream wedding day.

Annastasia loves working with couples to help bring together their ideas and creating a magical experience to celebrate the start of their marital journey.

“I have worked with some beautiful, amazing couples and loved working on all their weddings. Sometimes  life creates additional dramas, and I remember one wedding where the lead up to the day had tragic personal circumstances for the couple and their families, but with good planning and heartfelt love, the day celebrated their love, and the support of their family and friends was totally memorable.” said Annastasia.

Sourcing her inspiration from all around the world, Annastasia listens carefully to understand each couples’ vision before designing a unique, on-trend look for every wedding day.

A particular achievement Annastasia had recently was the re-jigging of an outdoor ceremony to an indoor space at the last minute.

“Sometimes the weather gives us obstacles. The joy was in watching the ceremony taking place with the alternative setup, dry and warm, the happiness of the couple and with no one knowing the challenges that had been overcome, made everything perfect.”

When asked about her biggest piece of advice for couples getting married she said, “Just enjoy the day. Savour every minute because the time does pass by so quickly.”

Wedding dance en pointe

TWA_Mirra_103Graceful elegance, flowing beauty, floating on a cloud. They’re all phrases we associate with wedding gowns, but they’re also words that apply equally to that most exquisite of art forms – ballet!
Ballet and weddings have a unique kind of synergy that appears to link them intrinsically. Perhaps it is the style of the dress, with many wedding gowns resembling ballet tutus, or is it the commonality of fabrics – lace, chiffon, tulle? Maybe it is the way ballerinas and girls in wedding gowns move, with a magical, flowing or floating appearance that draws similarities. Or it could just be that both demand perfection to achieve maximum impact. During our recent shoot at Mirra Private Dining and Events in the Valley we put a ballet dancer in a range a stunning, balletically inspired gowns and let the magic happen.

The wrap party

GoE_Wraps_Blog002-3Last Saturday our friends at Gowns of Elegance hosted an eagerly anticipated high-tea function to celebrate the launch of a new range of fabrics and styles of wrap dresses from designer Erika Coyle, who was on hand to demonstrate some innovative ways to wear these versatile outfits. As usual, Linda, Bella and their team had created a stunning atmosphere with their Chermside boutique stylishly decorated for the occasion by Annastasia from Grande Moments Weddings & Designs. The floral decorations were particularly beautiful, with fresh roses being a distinct theme. We loved the unique “rose ceiling” feature with individual stems suspended in glass tubes. Guests arrived to find the store looking exquisite, with gift bags waiting on white americana chairs and a celebratory glass of champagne on offer, together with a smorgasbord of sweet and savoury treats for attendees to enjoy.

Whilst the event was aimed at Bridesmaids, Erika’s new range includes some stunning white lace and tulle gowns that would be equally suitable for brides, especially those planning a destination or casual beach wedding. The new “uber-bling” sequin fabric range of gown was especially popular with the bridesmaids in attendance who could clearly envisage being able to wear the gowns to formal events as well as to a wedding. Wrap dresses, being so versatile, are extremely popular right now, and are available from a number of sources, but not all are created equal. Erika’s dresses have a wonderful quality and feel. The gowns can be made in different weight fabrics and are made locally in South East Queensland.

Dave from Masterpieces Photography + Video was lucky enough to be invited to capture the event and you can see some of the highlights below. If you weren’t able to get to the high-tea on Saturday then you should give the team at Gowns of Elegance a call and make a time to visit their showroom and take a look at their incredible range of both bridal and bridesmaid dresses.

Perfectly paired

A wonderfully fresh and natural approach to styling from the exceptionally talented team at Sugared Style incorporates fresh fruit and florals. The luxuriant surrounds of Mirra Private Dining and Events is the perfect backdrop for this fresh approach which utilises real pineapples as vases and pears as unique place card holders. When combined with stunning gowns from Darb Bridal Couture and Elizabeth de Varga Exclusive Fashions the end results are wonderfully modern and vibrant.

Backdrop to Romance

An urban industrial background is transformed by an arbour, decorated by lush green foliage and a modern string curtain that provides a soothing, rhythmic flow framing the bride and groom. This is the perfect way to disguise and soften harsh backdrops or bring focus back to the bride and groom on a more open landscape

Styling Love

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same” said icon Coco Chanel, and that is so true when it comes to wedding styling. Your look might have touches of boho, or vintage, or perhaps Gatsby glamour, but the overall style and the feeling it creates will be what people remember. That’s where a Wedding Stylist can be such a benefit by ensuring that all the elements come together in one seemless experience. We so loved our Hamptons inspired stand at the recent Ideal Bride Expo that was created by talented stylist Alysia Bridges of Celebrations by Alysia.

Here’s some vision captured by the team at Masterpieces Photography + Video.

Industrial Inspiration at the Wedding Arcade

So what’s with the weather Brisbane? With Autumn throwing some unexpected weather events into the mix, we finally got the chance to attend The Wedding Arcade’s latest event. Held in the industrial setting of the old Peters Ice Cream factory in the heart of eclectic West End. This was the hottest ticket for brides-to-be this weekend, offering in depth planning advice and workshops as well as the opportunity to meet some of Brisbane’s best vendors. The old factory certainly made for a unique backdrop for the event, which was transformed with stylish settings from several event planners and some clever stalls from the suppliers.

When Freddie Met Lilly hosted a session on bridal fashions, with several models looking stunning in the gowns and suits. The grooms weren’t neglected either, with a Grooms Room close to the display of wedding transport that was offering a chill-out zone for the guys with a whiskey bar and comfy sofas if the boys needed a break.

Another innovation was the chefs table, which offered patrons a chance to enjoy a range of delectable dishes from a range of catering suppliers. Food trucks are becoming increasingly popular at Weddings and they were well represented too with a range a unique vehicles offering a selection of cuisine options.

The event was certainly popular, and although the weather didn’t play ball all the time this was a very different type of expo that allowed brides and grooms to dig a little deeper into the planning process and have time to talk to the vendors they wanted without the usual push and shove of some of the larger expos.

Photo Shoot Excitement

CurrumbinShoot1We’re all on a high after our weekend photo shoots around Currumbin. The perfect beaches with stunning white dunes provided the beach side theme we were intending. The week before had seen us nervously biting our nails as we watched the ever changeable weather forecast – just like a couple planning an outdoor wedding have to endure. Luckily the weather Gods played ball and the sun shone and the winds were calm!

The team that collaborated on this shoot were amazing. With exquisite gowns from Elizabeth deVarga and When Freddie Met Lilly this shoot was always going to be exceptional. Our wonderful creative team of Hair Stylist, Aleesha Darke, and Makeup Artist, Suzi Dent, worked so harmoniously, and followed the brief brilliantly.

Our outstanding photographer for the day was Dave from Masterpieces Photography and Video who worked with his usual creativity, efficiency and professionalism to get the absolute best from our gorgeous models from Katz Model Management.

To top it all off we had a charming seaside ceremony and reception set up by the talented Kasey from Fashionable Society Events. The coastal theme was complemented by the fresh watercolour styled stationery from LaPapeterie.

Everything just fell into place, and all the preparations we made came together perfectly on the day. The results speak for themselves and I’m sure you will be as delighted as we are when our new edition hits your inboxes very soon.

Here are some behind the scenes shots just to peak your interest.

Welcome Fashionable Society Events

We are very excited to welcome Fashionable Society Events to The Wedding Alley.

In the lead up to our next photo shoot we have been thrilled with the ideas and concepts that Kasey, principal stylist and planner of Fashionable Society Events, has bought to the creative table.  Well, actually the reception table, but all will become clear when our shoot goes online.

Kasey’s wealth of experience in events and styling ranges from corporate functions through to fashion shows and weddings which makes her the perfect planner and stylist for your wedding.

In her own words, “Fashionable Society Events is a wedding stylist and planner changing the misconceptions about the wedding world. With realistic prices and personalised, all-inclusive services, there’s no wedding too big or too small that we can’t take on.”

We look forward to working more with Kasey and featuring some of her fabulous styling on The Wedding Alley.
