Grand Designs from Grande Moments

AO0P7948 (4)When it comes to styling your special day, you want a wedding expert to make your vision a reality. Annastasia Grande from Grande Moments Events and Weddings will help you to achieve the style you are dreaming of. A talent for floral artistry, combined with the knowledge and experience of event planning means that your wedding ceremony and reception will be expertly catered for.

Annastasia’s love for flowers and weddings started when she was just a little girl, and her skills have now developed into a flourishing business that helps couples create their dream wedding day.

Annastasia loves working with couples to help bring together their ideas and creating a magical experience to celebrate the start of their marital journey.

“I have worked with some beautiful, amazing couples and loved working on all their weddings. Sometimes  life creates additional dramas, and I remember one wedding where the lead up to the day had tragic personal circumstances for the couple and their families, but with good planning and heartfelt love, the day celebrated their love, and the support of their family and friends was totally memorable.” said Annastasia.

Sourcing her inspiration from all around the world, Annastasia listens carefully to understand each couples’ vision before designing a unique, on-trend look for every wedding day.

A particular achievement Annastasia had recently was the re-jigging of an outdoor ceremony to an indoor space at the last minute.

“Sometimes the weather gives us obstacles. The joy was in watching the ceremony taking place with the alternative setup, dry and warm, the happiness of the couple and with no one knowing the challenges that had been overcome, made everything perfect.”

When asked about her biggest piece of advice for couples getting married she said, “Just enjoy the day. Savour every minute because the time does pass by so quickly.”

Wedding dance en pointe

TWA_Mirra_103Graceful elegance, flowing beauty, floating on a cloud. They’re all phrases we associate with wedding gowns, but they’re also words that apply equally to that most exquisite of art forms – ballet!
Ballet and weddings have a unique kind of synergy that appears to link them intrinsically. Perhaps it is the style of the dress, with many wedding gowns resembling ballet tutus, or is it the commonality of fabrics – lace, chiffon, tulle? Maybe it is the way ballerinas and girls in wedding gowns move, with a magical, flowing or floating appearance that draws similarities. Or it could just be that both demand perfection to achieve maximum impact. During our recent shoot at Mirra Private Dining and Events in the Valley we put a ballet dancer in a range a stunning, balletically inspired gowns and let the magic happen.

Sugar Rush

Hanging CakeLike the proverbial kids in a candy store, we’re massively excited to introduce the sublime creative talents of Caitlin Mitchell, Owner & Creative Decorator at A Little Cake Place. Her lavish designs range from gravity defying hanging cakes, to multi-tiered cakes that encompass styles from classically simple to the most intricate details. Whatever you’ve imagined, Caitlin can bring it to life in all it’s sweetness. The tag line “Haute Couture of Cakes” is certainly apt.

How Caitlin started in the wedding industry is, in itself, a romantic story that was inspired by the comedy ‘Bridesmaids’. Intrigued by an exquisite cupcake created by Kristen Wigg’s character, Annie, Caitlin enrolled in an introductory course and soon discovered her flair for cake decorating and design.

After starting out in 2012, A Little Cake Place was nominated as a finalist in the Australian Bridal Industry Awards just one year later, and then, in 2015, was announced the winner in the Cake Design category.

We spoke with Caitlin about her experience with wedding couples and cakes, and how she never grows tired of the excitement of creating beautiful wedding cakes.

“My favourite part about creating a wedding cake for a couple is finding out about their wedding, all of the little details, such as the dress, bridesmaids dresses, colour scheme, flowers and so much more. Pulling it altogether and creating a unique design for that couple. There is always that personal touch in the designs then, sometimes exceptionally unique. I love being a part of it.”

Caitlin stays at the forefront of industry designs, and is constantly thinking outside the box, with new designs that combine traditional and current techniques.

The hardest challenge Caitlin has is when the couple doesn’t have a vision for their cake – “The cake is usually the last part of the wedding puzzle, and it is ideal for the other elements of the day to be determined first.”

“My most valuable piece of advice is; don’t get caught up on small details, relax and enjoy the day … and make sure a piece of cake is saved for you at the end of the night!”, said Caitlin.

You can make a consultation to taste the delightful options available, and discuss your unique creation at A Little Cake Place through their website.

Backdrop to Romance

An urban industrial background is transformed by an arbour, decorated by lush green foliage and a modern string curtain that provides a soothing, rhythmic flow framing the bride and groom. This is the perfect way to disguise and soften harsh backdrops or bring focus back to the bride and groom on a more open landscape

Styling Love

“Fashion fades, only style remains the same” said icon Coco Chanel, and that is so true when it comes to wedding styling. Your look might have touches of boho, or vintage, or perhaps Gatsby glamour, but the overall style and the feeling it creates will be what people remember. That’s where a Wedding Stylist can be such a benefit by ensuring that all the elements come together in one seemless experience. We so loved our Hamptons inspired stand at the recent Ideal Bride Expo that was created by talented stylist Alysia Bridges of Celebrations by Alysia.

Here’s some vision captured by the team at Masterpieces Photography + Video.

Industrial Inspiration at the Wedding Arcade

So what’s with the weather Brisbane? With Autumn throwing some unexpected weather events into the mix, we finally got the chance to attend The Wedding Arcade’s latest event. Held in the industrial setting of the old Peters Ice Cream factory in the heart of eclectic West End. This was the hottest ticket for brides-to-be this weekend, offering in depth planning advice and workshops as well as the opportunity to meet some of Brisbane’s best vendors. The old factory certainly made for a unique backdrop for the event, which was transformed with stylish settings from several event planners and some clever stalls from the suppliers.

When Freddie Met Lilly hosted a session on bridal fashions, with several models looking stunning in the gowns and suits. The grooms weren’t neglected either, with a Grooms Room close to the display of wedding transport that was offering a chill-out zone for the guys with a whiskey bar and comfy sofas if the boys needed a break.

Another innovation was the chefs table, which offered patrons a chance to enjoy a range of delectable dishes from a range of catering suppliers. Food trucks are becoming increasingly popular at Weddings and they were well represented too with a range a unique vehicles offering a selection of cuisine options.

The event was certainly popular, and although the weather didn’t play ball all the time this was a very different type of expo that allowed brides and grooms to dig a little deeper into the planning process and have time to talk to the vendors they wanted without the usual push and shove of some of the larger expos.

In her own words, “Fashionable Society Events is a wedding stylist and planner changing the misconceptions about the wedding world. With realistic prices and personalised, all-inclusive services, there’s no wedding too big or too small that we can’t take on.”

We look forward to working more with Kasey and featuring some of her fabulous styling on The Wedding Alley.
