Tuscan twilight a little closer to home

This coming Sunday, 22nd May, The Bride’s Market will be hosting the next of their highly popular Twilight Market events at their Tuscan inspired courtyard in Douglas Street, Milton.
Offering a significantly different experience to the everyday, run-of the-mill indoor bridal expos, this event, held primarily outdoors under the stars, has a true European marketplace feel, with a selection of gourmet food vans sharing the space with a range of high-quality wedding vendors.
The unique space encourages great creativity from the attending suppliers, with plenty of fairy lights and decorative styling on shows dusk falls.

Ideal Bridal Experience

With it’s central Brisbane location at City Hall, close to some exceptional bridal shopping opportunities and great eateries around Queen Street, the Ideal Bride expo could be the perfect place to get your besties together for some serious planning.

City Hall certainly is a spectacular venue, with it’s cavernous circular chamber lending elegance and old world sophistication to any event. The Ideal Bride team are always welcoming and have invested in state of the art technology to assist your planning, starting with tablet driven registration forms and scannable tickets to enable you to register interest with exhibitors.

There were a wide range of suppliers to choose from, and a real mix of styles, from shabby chic to elegant modern.

Our main interest, of course, was the fashion parade, which kicked off very promptly and presented by the personable Courtney Thorpe, 2014 Miss World Australia. The show featured two of Brisbane’s well known wedding gown designers, Elizabeth de Varga and Jordana Regan, who have featured at MBFF in the past, as well as a several other labels, including JK Couture Designs, Hills in Hollywood and A Formal Affair, in front of a full audience.

The boys livened things up for the crowd with a little bit of personality showing though, but the most applause was reserved for the young children in flower-girl and page-boy outfits.

Industrial Inspiration at the Wedding Arcade

So what’s with the weather Brisbane? With Autumn throwing some unexpected weather events into the mix, we finally got the chance to attend The Wedding Arcade’s latest event. Held in the industrial setting of the old Peters Ice Cream factory in the heart of eclectic West End. This was the hottest ticket for brides-to-be this weekend, offering in depth planning advice and workshops as well as the opportunity to meet some of Brisbane’s best vendors. The old factory certainly made for a unique backdrop for the event, which was transformed with stylish settings from several event planners and some clever stalls from the suppliers.

When Freddie Met Lilly hosted a session on bridal fashions, with several models looking stunning in the gowns and suits. The grooms weren’t neglected either, with a Grooms Room close to the display of wedding transport that was offering a chill-out zone for the guys with a whiskey bar and comfy sofas if the boys needed a break.

Another innovation was the chefs table, which offered patrons a chance to enjoy a range of delectable dishes from a range of catering suppliers. Food trucks are becoming increasingly popular at Weddings and they were well represented too with a range a unique vehicles offering a selection of cuisine options.

The event was certainly popular, and although the weather didn’t play ball all the time this was a very different type of expo that allowed brides and grooms to dig a little deeper into the planning process and have time to talk to the vendors they wanted without the usual push and shove of some of the larger expos.
