The Sunshine Coast Hinterland once again showed why it is fast becoming the Number One Wedding destination in Australia with another spectacular showcase event over the weekend of 9-10 January. With six wedding venues hosting a wide array of wedding suppliers and many others holding open houses, this was an opportunity not to be missed for brides-to-be. We visited displays at several venues, including the House of Laurels, but it was the sublime Maleny Manor, once again hosting a fashion parade from our friends at Elizabeth de Varga, that captivated us.
There is always so much to see at the Manor, with Marlene and her team working hard with quality vendors to ensure their bridal offerings are at the cutting edge of fashion and trends. It was wonderful to hear how many elopements and so-called “pash and dash” destination weddings they are hosting for interstate and overseas couples.
One big change this year was the addition of a very funky teepee space – perfect for all the hipsters out there – which was suitably complemented by the de-rigeur VW Combi van. The impeccably trained owls from Raptor Vision were in attendance again too, demonstrating just how amazing it could be to have your rings delivered by owl. An essential element for any Harry Potter fan.
Head designer Tammie Nitschke from Elizabeth de Varga put on two fashion parades that made the most of the glorious weather and stunning location, showcasing a wide range of her beautiful gowns, including some of the stylish and very suitable two-piece outfits that would suit the venue perfectly. The second parade took place as the sun was beginning to set, with lighting and pyrotechnics enhancing the show even more.
The pavilion provided plenty of inspiration with a stunning hanging centrepiece and florals by Mondo Floral Designs, and a beautiful copper theme designed by Lovebird Weddings.
Bride-to-be, Claire Pryor visited Maleny Manor on the Saturday and spoke with us about her upcoming wedding. With plans to marry in February 2017, but visiting from London, the wedding showcase was a great opportunity to talk with wedding professionals and see the venue in all of its splendour. Claire was pleased to be back in Queensland for Christmas and was taking the chance to view some of the options. “The informal, relaxed atmosphere is a great setting to meet wedding suppliers and be able to ask questions. Maleny Manor looks beautiful and is high on our list of choices.” said Claire.
With perfect summer weather, balanced by a wonderfully refreshing mountain breeze, and a champagne in hand, it was easy to see why so many brides are choosing the region and making it so popular. If it isn’t on your short-list already it probably should be so take a look at the images, shot by our wonderful friends at Masterpieces Photography, be inspired and then go and visit yourself. You won’t be disappointed.
