With the seconds counting down, it was a race against the clock for the six talented wedding stylists chosen to battle each other in the inaugural Style Masters 2015 competition at Mirra Private Dining and Events on Wednesday 2 December.
We joined a throng of industry professionals and soon-to-be brides to watch in awe as the teams transformed their 3mx3mx3m empty spaces into dramatic settings in just an hour. With the most basic of briefs – that the space must include a table for 6 or 8 and represent trends for 2016 – it was simply fascinating to see six very different concepts come together under the watchful eyes of the judges – all leaders in the styling and interior industry!
All the teams took very different approaches, with Beautiful Weddings Australia featuring massive floral structures and chandeliers, whilst Styled Events chose enormously high, crystal-beaded, central drape, and another by Amini Concepts that featured a huge array of candles on top of a floral table. We loved the unique idea of copper piping as part of the elegant design created by Sugared Style and the blend of industrial and floral elements put together by the team at Brandition. The winner on the night was the exceptionally simple, but Slick and Contemporary design was created by Amey Mejak from Pack A Perfect Party. The use of a laser-cut, polystyrene table underlay, with marble plates and sophisticated Perspex menus, married with elegant foliage created a statement piece that certainly hit the brief of being on trend for 2016. Amey was inspired by the modern wedding and created a clean space that would be perfect for the shared platters that are becoming so popular. Even more impressive was the fact that Amey was working by herself.

This was another outstanding event at Mirra and was the perfect showcase for this exceptional venue. The whole place exudes character with gorgeous niche spaces and funky decor that are a bride’s dream. The food was excellent too, with a range of delicious canapés on offer and the champagne flowed freely to make the evening even more enjoyable.
